Similar to the Harris Group the Cork Youth Orchestra understands and appreciates the importance of organisations that make a positive difference in society. It is this synergy in values that makes Harris Groups sponsorship of the CYO a perfect harmony. Our sponsorship has supported the Cork Youth Orchestra in raising considerable funds for several very deserving charities over the years. These include: Special Olympics IrelandCystic Fibrosis IrelandMarymountSt. Vincent de PaulBUMBLEance & Friends of the Children of Chernobyl. Fundraising is an important mission of the Cork Youth Orchestra, enabling young musicians to play an active role in their community and contribute to the cultural and social life of the city.
The members of CYO were very grateful for the opportunity to perform to large audiences in Italy on their concert tour in the summer of 2023. In appreciation for this support and for the opportunity to perform in Italy, it was decided that the Cork Youth Orchestra farewell concert in Cork, on the eve of their departure for Italy, would be a benefit concert for Cork Penny Dinners. The sold-out CYO pre-Italy concert tour ‘Reflections of Ireland’ performance in City Hall Cork, with the phenomenal support of the people of Cork, raised €7,934 for Cork Penny Dinners.
CYO were delighted to present a cheque to Caitriona Twomey of Cork Penny Dinners to support their important work in Cork.
